Why Use Natural Tooth Sudz?
We here at Smellz Good are aware that a good, healthy nutritional eating is the key for good oral hygiene. Yet, sometimes we need a little extra help…We are not a dentist or a doctor, just family people who have tried a MANY of different toothpaste options and read a TON about commercial toothpaste. So, where to find a good toothpaste without questionable ingredients, such as:
Sweeteners: Sorbitol, sodium saccharin and other artificial sweeteners are often used in toothpaste to improve taste, even though there is no evidence that these sweeteners are beneficial (or even safe) for use in the mouth. Xylitol has shown some positive benefits for oral health in some European studies, but it remains a question for us.
- Fluoride: The most controversial toothpaste ingredient. We personally avoid it like the plague because it affects thyroid disease. Iodine is known to neutralize the affects of fluoride so it is easier for fluoride to build up people with thyroid issues. Additionally, fluoride interferes with my thyroid hormone uptake. T Some may differ, but whatever your opinion, fluoride does come with a warning to call the poison control center immediately if ingested.
- Triclosan: A chemical used in antibacterial soaps and products. The FDA is currently re-evaluating it for safety in human use.
- Glycerin: Another controversial ingredient, glycerin is found in many toothpastes, especially natural toothpastes. Some research says it can coat teeth and prevent them from naturally remineralizing from the minerals in saliva. We decided to eliminate the possibility of harming the teeth.
- Surfactants: Many toothpastes contain surfactants like sodium lauryl sulfate, which gives toothpaste its foam and lather. Some research shows that SLS can cause mouth ulcers and canker sores. We know sulfates are bad bad.
Given the alarming ingredients in toothpaste, we here at Smellz Good decided to give you a clean way of brushing! We call it Tooth Sudz. Just launched in June 2016, one shred is placed on a back molar and after you bite down, wet your toothbrush and start brushing as usual. (rinse well after brushing). It will foam nicely and cleans your teeth and gums so well you will feel a difference after just one brushing. These shreds are an untraditional way of brushing, but many people love them and refuse to switch to anything else. And great news, Tooth Sudz do not cause a problem with TSA and can be tossed into your carry-on bag; no worries about putting them in a clear plastic bag for inspection.
